Hi everyone!

This goes for those who might now know me, I'm Mark Ganzon. I also go by the pseudo name "Cloud88". I'm graphic designer for a trading company in UAE and still is after office hours. I've been at it formally and professionally for 5 years now and I'm not stopping at any point in time.

I'm sending this message to show you what I can do, what keeps me busy, and what my intentions are for this one in particular. To be honest, I just got here in February of this year and haven't adjusted fully with my life here. In a nutshell, I'm not earning that big yet. So I shamelessly plug my design for a cause.

Last August 29, 2009, my grand mother was sent to the hospital due to a heart attack that resulted her the inability to speak normal and a ticket to the Intensive care unit. This is inevitable for an old person but she still has the will to fight this one off and live some more. The thing is, hospital bills are a big problem specially in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) which everyone knows. So here I am, humbly writing to you not because I seek financial help but votes. Yes, votes.

Votes that will let me win a cash prize of almost USD 2,500 that will grant my grandmother medical treatment that she deserves. A few more years to live and only 5 minutes of your time. Nothing more.

I design. This is my gift. And I'm using it to win my relative a chance to live and to have more birthdays starting with me next year since she's also 8th of August. Same day as mine.

Please, I only ask for five minutes of your time to vote and nothing more. If not given the chance for me to personally return the favor, then I bid you more and bountiful blessings in days to come.

Consider this as a prayer and a vote for my grandma's speedy recovery.

May 3, 2008. Artists from California dropped by at Pablo Gallery in Cubao-X to do a wild collaboration with local Pinoy artists from the metro. Beginning with the roster of PSP (Pilipinas Street Plan), Electrolychee, 27/20, WeeWillDoodle together with dj's Arbie Won, Caliph8, and Mike Boo, they made everyone's night not an ordinary one. :)

Shooting the canvas with cans after cans of paint, Tenfold, Ganyan, and Phoneticontrol, filled the air with the sweet smell of western graf while Jenn Porreca let her stuff flaunt itself inside the crowded ground floor of Pablo gallery.

So yeah,music and art converged in one place. Sweet sight for sore eyes. :)

Artists are now sprouting like wild mushrooms in every corner of the metro. Now we focus our attention on one of the bands that gives new tunes to our ears. They're called "Crossed Fingers". They named themselves this because of its wide range of use. Like when you're in an exam, you cross your fingers to pass or maybe doing something risky that you have to cross you fingers just to pull it off.

Or even tell a white lie while saying it. So I interviewed their vocalis LJ and asked here a few question that will shed light about CF (Crossed Fingers).

Now I shut up to let ya'll know more about them.

Cloud88: How did you guys (Crossed fingers) start out and when?

CF: College days in UST. Pare-pareho na kmeng musically inclined, pa-jam-jam, but Crossedfingers was officially born when we joined Rx Band Breakout in 2003

Cloud88: I see. So how many members are there? Who are they and what do they play? Hehe. (This is a serious question ha.

CF: Kmi ay lima, kagaya ng mga fingers sa isang kamay. (hekhek) Simon "Sai" Ruidera - bassist, Christopher "Bong" Ugale - Rhythm guitarist, Jayson Chavez - Lead guitarist, Gino Borja - Drummer, at ako (LJ Gaudiel) - vocalist.

Cloud88: So after playing your first gig, did you guys had regular gigs then? Where was it?

CF: I'd say occasional gigs lang since we were studying then. Mostly we were invited in school events and mga productions in bars. We became active na lang when we finished school (more or less) :D

Cloud88: Ayus! And what was your first recorded song and are there any samples that the readers can check out?

CF: First ever song...Whooh! Ang walang kupas na "Puting Panaginip". First official song ng Crossedfingers kasi ito din yung official entry namin when we joined the Rx competition. They can visit soundclick.com/crossedfingers for some demo tracks.

Cloud88: That's good to hear! Are you guys currently playing in bars or some other place where people can see you live? (Now it's time to plug anything you want!)

CF: We're currently recording tracks for submission sa mga recording labels/radio stations/tv stations. Plans? Madami pero drawing pa rin. hopefully mabigyan kami ng industriya ng chance to share our music. Compo lang ng compo ng mga new songs...We're keeping our faith up and fingers crossed for that "break" which most bands are aiming for. Sana magka-official album na kami! Yun lang masaya na kami. :)

A key work of Sasha Waltz, who along with Pina Bausch is one of the most important German choreographers. A 12 meter high wall, fourteen half naked dancers tumble on the stage, their bodies literally entangling, engulfing each other, stiffening like hypnosis. In a survey concerning morality, the quest for immortality and reproduction in the age of manipulation, Sasha Waltz presents the inner and outer shell of the human body. What is the body? How is it made? In this first trilogy of her 'body' series, Sasha Waltz examines the relationships and anatomy of bodies in space and history. "BAKA na-interview ko sya?!" - A BAKA exclusive.

"Olei!", "amigo", "muchos gracias". These are only some of the words that you would usually get from BAKA when you're already been acquainted.

A brand molded from the streets of the metro, BAKA has gathered fans of all ages. But how do you really know BAKA? Well of course hindi. So here's some to give us all an insight on how he does his neat stuff.

Cloud88: How did you come up with BAKA and when?

           
BAKA: The inspiration came from my lolo’s gift. A healthy
young cow. BAKA wa originally designed for the streets
as part of the sticker war scene in Manila. The first
sticker was born 2 years ago.

Cloud88: Being an independent artist/entrepreneur, what
are your biggest challenges so far?

BAKA: The concept of time, sleep and money.
     
Cloud88: In the world of visual arts, how do you express
your emotions on a certain work? (OMG, lalim!)

BAKA: Emotions produce art. I just do what i feel and care
less on whats gonna happen. Art should always be you.


Cloud88: Since BAKA is now becoming a fully developed
brand, what other things that come in to your mind
in terms on marketing BAKA?

BAKA: Team up with artists and let them express themselves
through BAKA. I’m also thinking of baking cookies.


Cloud88: I know that you're already gaining the attention
that your brand needs and would it be ok to share to
the readers some tips on how you did it?

BAKA: A great original concept would be the main ingredient
then just add tons of hard work and do an overdose of
fun fun fun.

Cloud88: How do you see BAKA in like umm, 2-3 years from
now?

BAKA: BAKA will become a household brand.

WeeWill - MANILA NOW!

WeeWillDoodle again does what they do best. Fill spaces with mind blowing doodles!

Manila NOW, March 5-8, 2008, SMX Convention Center.

WeeWillDoodle was invited to adorn the main posts of the convention center during the show to somehow divert the busy minds of buyers, visitors and convention crew alike. Having their own booth at the show, they also gave insights to many people how collaborative doodling works. Of course many still can't believe that they doodle collaboratively but yeah, now they get the picture. :)

Electrolychee love. Q&A with Marcus and Bru.

Since I started being somehow a part of the art scene, I've been working with these people for a couple of months sa mga small collaborations ng WeeWillDoodle and Electrolychee and I never stopped on saying "ang tikas ng gawa nyo! Woohoo!".

Well, to share a couple of things about Electrolychee, I asked them a few qeustions on how they do things and how everything started. :)

Cloud88: When did you guys decided to make Electrolychee as a brand?

Electrolychee: We established it in September 2005 to pursue what we love doing.

Cloud88: How did you come up with the name?

Electrolychee: It was a play on words. Electro, defines the digital side of things and Lychee, the organic hand-drawn, analog side.

Cloud88: How can you define the Filipino art scene these days?

Electrolychee: It's steadily growing with new talents and impressive works popping out from almost everywhere.

Cloud88: With the existing characters that you guys are making, what would be a possible influence on every work?

Electrolychee: medyo magulo yun tanong. hehe
Cloud88: Honga noh. wehehe. anyhoo...

Cloud88: Because of your brand's ongoing success, what's next for ElectroLychee?

Electrolychee: Video and 3d works are brewing.

Cloud88: Any advice for the aspiring artists out there who would be following your footsteps?

Electrolychee: Keep on pursuing what you love doing. inspiration is a vital part of everyone's process, take those cues and innovate, don't just imitate.
